Overview
This course is designed to support learners to develop a practical and theoretical understanding of advocacy. It focuses on building the skills needed to advocate effectively for personal needs or on behalf of others, particularly individuals and groups who have traditionally been excluded from mainstream decision-making in Irish society.
The programme explores advocacy as both a hands-on skill set and a foundation of active citizenship. Learners are introduced to key concepts, reports, and services that support advocacy in Ireland, while developing confidence to participate in decision-making at all levels.

Entry requirements
SETU Carlow Campus operates a Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPL) scheme. Applicants may be considered for exemptions or advanced entry based on relevant work and life experience.
All applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis, and applicants may be invited to attend an interview to determine suitability for the programme.
