Overview
This course is designed to support learners to develop a foundational understanding of psychology and human behaviour. It introduces the key theories, perspectives, and research methods that shape contemporary psychological knowledge and professional practice.
The programme explores major psychological perspectives including biological, behavioural, cognitive, sociocultural, humanistic, psychoanalytic, and evolutionary approaches. Learners examine how psychology operates as a science, how research informs evidence-based practice, and how debates within psychology influence professional work and real-world issues.

Entry requirements
SETU Carlow Campus operates a Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPL) scheme. Applicants may be considered for exemptions or advanced entry based on relevant work and life experience.
All applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis, and applicants may be invited to attend an interview to determine suitability for the programme.
